Italia Antiqua, circa 1658 Rare early map showing Italy, Sicily, Sardinia, and Corsica, by Nicholas Sanson (1600-1667). Copperplate engraving on mould paper. This antique map measures 22 and three quarters by 20 inches high and its frame measures 29 and three eighths inches by 26 and one half inches. This rare map would make the perfect gift or addition to any home,office or library.

Britannae Antique, 1794 Copperplate engraved map, hand-colored, on mould paper. Shows Britain under Roman control with original Roman district names. Cartographer was John Horsley (1685 to 1732 published by Lawrie & Whittle, London. this rare antique map measures 21 inches by 22 and three quarters and the frame 28 inches by 30 and one half inches.

Greek or Roman Amphora transport vase

Greek or Roman amphora or wine transport vase. This Greco-Roman vase measures 22 inches long and tapers from 8 and one half inches to 3 and one half inches. This terra cotta amphora dates from the 2nd to the 1st century BC. Condition is quite good with some marine encrustation, elegant tapering body, and cylindrical neck twin handles. For a similar example, see the Christie's New York catalog for the Antiquities sale on June 14, 1993, page 39, item #65.

Ecclesiastical Italian Gothic Chair walnut c1600

Ecclesiastical Italian Gothic Chair walnut c1600. This superb Gothic walnut chair was used by church dignitaries. The walnut is just delicious. Only walnut that is over 400 years old has this deep rich color. The chair has had some repairs over they years which is to be expected from 17th century furniture. Measures 19 inches to the top of its seat, 23 inches wide, 51 inches to the top of the back. Fine carving detail depicting lions head arms and wooden pin construction.

Chinese Buddhist Stelle stone carving A. D. 557-581. The work of the Northern Chou dynasty which dominated the North China West of the Yellow River between A. D. 557-581 This is based on the columns and on the treatment of the curtain above which indicates western influences. The Northern Chou people were in close contact with the peoples of Central Asia.We have a letter dated October 17 1962 from John A Pope Director of the Freer Gallery of Art at the Smithsonian Institution addressed to our consignor explaining he had talked to the then Leading authority on Chinese sculpture, Professor Osvald Siren about this piece. Professor Osvald Siren gave the above description of this Chinese sculpture. All letters are available to the purchaser of the sculpture. This carving measures 21 inches tall,13 inches wide and 6 and one half inches thick.
